There are over 750 companies specializing in the ICT sector in Lublin. Over 50 companies employ nine members of staff and there are four companies where over one hundred employees are hired. There are over 2,100 people working in small and medium-size ICT enterprises and 1,400 are hired by micro companies. Moreover, there is a significant group of IT specialists employed in other companies and institutions. It is therefore estimated that there are approximately 5,000 ICT specialists employed. According to Central Statistical Office, the number of companies in this sector to the number of citizens ratio is also high, i.e. there are 22 ICT companies per 10,000 citizens.
This sector is also successful in the education sector. Higher education institutions in Lublin provide IT and Technical and IT education services to over 3,000 students every year. Additionally, there are over 800 learners of IT technical secondary schools. The ICT sector in Lublin has been developing rapidly and this is reflected by significant increase in the number of IT companies. This result is the highest in Poland, comparing to other cities of the same size. Moreover, the number of IT course graduates proves that this trend is increasing. Two especially important conditions are fulfilled, which are essential for the sector to develop in the city. The advantage of Lublin is the fact that there are two institutional ICT clusters in the city.
Investors that would like to join the Lublin IT Upland ecosystem will be provided with support of a dedicated project manager that will guide them through Lublin IT Upland. A rapidly growing office space market is waiting for companies that plan on opening their offices in Lublin. Price for one square meter of such space starts from 10.5 euro, which is far less than in Łódź, Katowice, Tricity, Kraków or Poznań. It is also a half of what must be paid in the center of Warsaw.
Employees of the City of Lublin will help investors conduct marketing campaigns, e.g. by organizing press conferences or sharing a media base. They will also help encourage cooperation with universities, career agencies, and student organizations.
